Basketball, Football, & Wings.

Spring semester has begun and it is absolutely freezing here in 'Cuse. Basketball has been pretty disappointing here lately. Saturday we lost by 10 to Villanova, and then last night we lost to Georgetown by two in overtime. Ouch. We desperately need Devendorf back.

At least something good has happened lately...the New York Giants are going to the Super Bowl. I wasn't necessarily a Giants fan but after I spent seven hours in the boys' suite watching football and YouTube videos of babies I can now call myself a fan of the Giants (mostly because Buffalo sucks).

Our game food was, of course, from Wings. However, we couldn't just order anything reasonable. Matt decides that we need to order the Hanger 4. A Hanger 4 includes: a full stack of ribs, 60 wings, over 2 Lbs of boneless wings, 2 large french fries, and 2 large onion rings. All split between eight people. Everyone thought that sounded reasonable. Heck, Anton even thought we should order the next deal up...and then we saw the food when it arrived. Never order that much food for eight people. Even with seven hungry college boys + one hungry college girl we were no where near finishing it. But the wings were delicious.

Another word of advice: if you are at a house party and the floor is bouncing like it is going to cave in, don't worry, it won't. At least not yet...

That was a little embarressing...

We just lost to Cincinatti. Let's just hope we don't play like that from here on out. I was so discouraged from the game (and my Dad's yelling at the game) that I finished my book while it was on. I read "Falling out of Fashion" by Karen Yampolsky. Despite the title, it's not chick-lit. Yampolsky is the former assistant to Jane Pratt, founder and editor-in-chief of Jane magazine. In this novel she writes about Jill White and her rise and decline in the publishing biz. She uses altered names of celebrities and other publications that are so close to the original that they are blatantly obvious. I enjoyed this very much for lots of juicy info was revealed. For example S.I. Newhouse Jr, who bears the name of my school is known as "T.J. Oldham Jr.", head of Nestrom (Conde Nast) Publishing, and People was called "Profile". I highly recommend this book to any mag majors.

Back after a haitus

The semester got the best of me and I haven't updated my blog in months. I'm sure no one even reads this, but for those that might, I apologize for the absence.

I will make a list of things that I have learned over break.

10) Parents will go to the greatest lengths to have their daughters see Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus live. I came back to work (Limited Too) the day before the Hannah/Miley concert and a "huge snow storm." Mothers were at the store buying their daughters outfits, fake Hannah Montana hair, and bathing suits to wear in the hotel pools. Yes, families were camping out downtown in hotels in case the storm was so bad that it wouldn't be safe enough to drive to the show. I heard stories of people paying over $500 on eBay just to get tickets too. At least four mothers said to me "She should have left Toronto by now, hopefully she'll make it here." I should have known that parents were so concerned about this show they tracked down where Miley Cyrus was and approximated when she would leave. I guess if I spent a fortune on tickets, I would be too.  Luckily, despite all the snow, the show went on!

9) I like the Jonas Brothers. I know, I know. I'm 20. Not 12. However, my nine-year-old cousin Sam, gave me the CD, so I listened to it, and yes, I enjoy it! 

8) On your break don't go back to school if you can help it. Going back to Syracuse to visit family for Christmas and New Years Day I couldn't help. However, I went back to campus twice for basketball games, which was fun, but walking through campus made me want to go back home where there was no reminiscence of papers and graphics projects. I was supposed to go back today for another game, but I put my foot down.

7) If you send your father a "death threat" e-mail asking for a certain movie for Christmas, he'll get it for you.

6) I love the Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo. It's a quality show. Watch it.

5)  Eric Devendorf and Andy Rautins need some help dressing up for the games. They should reconsider what that choose to wear to sit the bench at games. And they need to get better ASAP because we need them. 

4) Arinze Onuaku is insaaane. He will help us (and by us I mean the SU Bball team) tremendously this season.

3) I miss new episodes of The Office.

2) I really want to visit NYC.

1) I kind of want to go back to school....

I'm excited for new TV and to write my opinions on them. Desperate Housewives returns on Sunday and a new show, The Cashmere Mafia premieres after it. On DH we find out what happened to Lynette's family in the tornado. I'm really interested to see what CM is like. One Tree Hill returns for the premiere of Season Five on Tues. They are taking a new approach and fast forwarding four years to have the characters graduated from college, which makes sense because the actors are all that age anyway.
